Bring back Mac vs. PC - WSJ: "Microsoft Kicks Off Seinfeld Campaign" Yeah, I saw the first commercial tonight and it was deeply dumb to the point of insulting. It's the kind of ad that makes you wonder: "What were they thinking?"

Really? I caught it the first time during the Giants/Redskins game with three friends and all four of us were mesmerized. Admittedly, two of them were stoned, but I was just as curious as they were. Having heard nothing about it (even that Seinfeld would be doing MS ads), I couldn't wait to find out what it was an ad for.

In short, I think perhaps you misjudge the ad. It does what it's supposed to do very well. The key will be to only run it for a short while and then pull it for something else. It doesn't stand up to repeat viewing so well.
