Who got the loot?

From the Economist, here’s the world’s biggest banks:


Frankly, I had never heard of HSBC. It turns out the acronym stands for Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, yet it’s a British firm founded in the mid-1800s.

How interesting. Some 10-15 years ago the top half dozen banks in the world were Japanese. We may well see the Chinese lead the pack in another 10 years, but that will be before their economic, civil and structural problems set in.
