Junk bond status, here we come!

Chicago Tribune: "Illinois Lottery stops selling Powerball tickets after lawmakers fail to cut deal."  In brief, Illinois will lose $90 million in annual revenue simply because the state can't be trusted to pay off lottery winners.

If Illinois can't reach agreement on this no-brainer, imagine the state of the whole state budget.

I thought you were against the government profiting off people's vices?

I am. There's a perverse incentive for the state when they depend on bad habit to keep the coffers full.

But, hey, Massachusetts needs cash! Bring on the casinos and marijuana.
