Hot Air: "The New Speaker Will Separate Ukraine and Israel Funding."

There's no need for these to be bundled.

Meanwhile, the Senate will pass a bundled Israel/Ukraine funding package.

Just nine GOP Senators want to separate them -- and you'll never guess which ones.

Further incompatibility merriment:

A majority of the House Republican conference supports adding a provision to the food and agriculture funding bill which would ban mail delivery of mifepristone abortion pills in all 50 states.

GOP hard-liners have pledged to block ANY version of the funding bill that does NOT include the abortion pill ban.

Vulnerable centrist Republicans who do not wish to see their careers aborted say they will refuse to vote for the bill if it includes the ban.

It hasn't gotten much attention, but if you look, the House Majority has a very thin margin.

The food and agriculture appropriations bill is usually one of the simplest for Congress to pass. The 2023 GOP has already failed to pass it multiple times, and is poised to fail again.

Back on Planet Normal, a mifepristone ban is deader than an unwanted fetus in the Senate.

Get ready to say hello to yet another self-defeating Republican government shutdown in the fourth trimester.

“If it's a legitimate scrape, the political body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
