It has to be that way for a decade or two, though. Because it would have been just too confusing to begin with the single payer system we're going to end up with anyway.
Health insurance for everybody? What? Not everyone has a checking account to pay for the health insurance? Well then, free bank and checking accounts for everybody! as soon-to-be mandated by the government.
Mmm, yes, that's the lesson of the 2012 election. It was free money for chiselers that beat you. Nothing else. The vote was more of a swindle or a trick than a legitimate loss. Dump your guns and religion if you must, but do cling to that.
