Back to the future

Is this statement in Timothy Geithner's future?

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong . . . somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. . . . I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. . . . And an enormous debt to boot."
Via Mona Charen, that was FDR's Treasury Secretary Henry Morganthau, testifying to Congress in May 1939. (HT: Patterico)

Or this?

"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation...Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property
rights." -Alan Greeenspan, 1966

"Senate Republicans were the minority party for 44 out of 48 years, from 1933 to 1981. The House was Democratic-led for 60 of 64 years."

Oh, well, it'll be good for Rush's show.

Oh, there's that word "permanent" again. I remember how popular it was 4 years ago. As in "_________ Republican majority."

Your political spine has been snapped, but the nerve damage hasn't quite reached your brain yet. It's just adorable, the way you guys keep making threats. You try to stamp your feet, but your poor little legs just won't cooperate anymore.

No worries, though... Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal will carry you to a glorious future.

Where did you find a threat in this stream?

With the likes of Tim Geitner, et al destroying the life savings of America's rapidly vanishing middle class, who needs threats?

Suddenly, they discover their deep horror of deficits. Next, they worry about the inequities in America's class system.

Change has truly come... to Republicans.

And liberal ass-hats nationwide suddenly realize that deliberately debasing the dollar actually impacts America's working poor more than anyone else.

Oh well, all that matters is that we're all equally worthless.

This thread is too cold to give The Unknown Comic a free history lesson in Republican vs. Democratic economic policies of the last 50 years, and their respective effects on the middle class.

So I'll just roll my eyes at the way Dummy here thought that his wisecrack against equality was a great "squelcher" to close on. Something tells me that a CEO's salary was never in his future anyway.
