It's funny because I was just watching "WarGames" on TV - CNN "Government unveils world's fastest computer": "Scientists unveiled the world's fastest supercomputer on Monday, a $100 million machine that for the first time has performed 1,000 trillion calculations per second in a sustained exercise."

"I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it would do any good."

According to the article the new petaflop computer gets about 376 Million calculations for every watt of power used.

1E+15 / 376E+06 = 2.659E+6

2.659 MW at $.10/KWH ~ $266/Hour just for electrical power!!!!

It's funny, because I was watching War Games recently too (I think it was on one of the movie channels like TCM or Fox Movie Channel or AMC or something like that) and it seemed sooooo dated now. Back when I was in high school, it scared the heck out of me (it also made me want a computer with a modem, so I could play those cool games). Now 25 years or so after the movie comes out, we have laptops computers that can calculate circles around Joshua. Shhot, our cell phones are probably more powerful that the WOPR.
