GOP Rep. Richard Hanna: “At the end of the day, the Affordable Care Act will in some form survive, and the millions of people who are on it will have insurance. It’s something this country needed and something people want. Politically, it’s untenable to just wipe it away. So who really won? In my argument, the president, Obama, won. At the end of the day we will have some sort of national health care that’s going to look very similar to what we have.”
Former Speaker John Boehner: "They'll fix Obamacare. I shouldn't have called it repeal and replace because that's not what's going to happen. They're basically going to fix the flaws and put a more conservative box around it. This is not all that hard to figure out, except this: In the 25 years that I served in the United States Congress, Republicans never, ever one time agreed on what a healthcare proposal should look like. Not once. They will never, ever agree what the bill should be. Most of the Affordable Care Act, the framework, is going to stay there. All this happy talk that went on in November and December and January about repeal, repeal, repeal -- yeah, we'll do replace, replace -- I started laughing. Because if you pass repeal without replace, first, anything that happens is your fault. You broke it."
Donald Trump, today: “We’re going to repeal and replace Obamacare, and get states the flexibility that they need to make the end result really, really good for them. Very complicated issue. I have to tell you, it’s an unbelievably complex subject. Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated.”
