Back in 2008, the Atlantic had an article about how airport security is a sham. The author regularly bypassed TSA checkpoints with indistinct squiggles on his boarding pass and large bottles of "saline solution."
Today it was reported that the TSA failed to detect 95% of test bombs by auditors.
In my last job, I used to love travelling for business. But one time I was coming back through Frankfurt and it was just a painful series of checkpoints; it was then I decided I just didn't want to travel by plane anymore. Shoes off, shoes on, lost my wristwatch, "random" search (a male traveling alone), interrogation - forget it.
