Cue the risk corridors/taxpayer bailout then the death spiral

Megan McArdle: "Young invincibles are killing Obamacare."  By not signing up: "What this does tell us, however, is that it is now probably impossible to achieve the demographic mix that the government has been forecasting. And keeping it from happening may well prove very expensive for the federal government."

Megan McArdle:
"As we head into the final few weeks, we have a pretty good idea... I too expect... unless... I don’t think... would have to be... depends on the total number... only possible if... not likely... even if we assume... theoretically possible... would have to be... would be... we could hit that even if... as long as... I don’t know if... most likely... if enrollment were... if it were... we’re assuming that if... but what if... would show up... would be... so are we definitely due... if the insurers assumed... we may not need... they may be willing... especially if... it is now probably impossible... may well prove very expensive."

Conclusion: ESCAPE IS theoretically FUTILE!!!! WE ARE ALL perhaps, if certain possibilities should someday come to pass DOOOOOMED!!!!!!!!

Yeah, all that hedging would have come in handy when a certain person said "you can keep your doctor" and "your family's premiums will go down by $2500" and "7 million enrollees would be a benchmark for success."

Stuff like that.

McArdle's good, but if Obama wants lessons in how to combine wispy imprecision with righteousness, along with the glory of being persecuted, there is only one Master Teacher:

"History will ultimately judge the decisions that were made for Iraq, er, Obamacare. And we're just not going to be around to see the final verdict."

That damn Booosh. Just when you think he hasn't been President in years, he screws up again.

Whereas "that damn Obama" is a great way to demonstrate that Megan "Maybe" McArdle is actually a good numbers cruncher.
