Wynn? When everyone had bubble money to burn on gambling (you know, back in the good old days) Vegas grew out of control and people like Wynn built and hired like crazy.
After the unsustainable bubble finally burst, real estate/business growth went predictably negative (especially so in Vegas, where it had been even more overheated than in the rest of the country) and the town took a severe beating. All that started while the previous guy was President and continued with the current guy. It will take years for that town to recover, and it will never reach that unsustainable peak without the benefit of another bubble.
There are casinos chomping at the bit to build and hire here in Massachusetts. At this very moment they're busy bribing - uh - lobbying our legistlators. The effort has the support of our liberal Democratic governor.
You've posted in this blog that you had the luxury of taking your talents to another company while still gainfully employed. My company has hired aggreessively over the past year, despite the supposed flight of businesses out of the people's republic of Massachusetts.
Americans love a success story, but that doesn't mean everything Wynn says is gold. He has a motivation to lobby for whatever breaks he can get, whether they're needed or not or good for the overall health of the nation. Then the tendentious folks over at Legal Insurrection, et al., jump on it and it gets endlessly cut and pasted and bounced around the blogosphere until everyone knows it's true.
The best stuff on this blog is the stuff you write (complete with crazy-ass notions like closing the gap with a combination of taxes and cuts, and references to things you've heard on NPR). We'd be better served with genuine, 100% pure, Viking Pundit totally original commentary.
Thanks for that last part, but it's getting harder. I'm tired, oh so tired.
