Awww, buck up. So the cardboard soldier's political clout has plunged in an eyeblink from the unbeatable endorser to walking poison. So your grandchildren's grandchildren will be taught about a ruined political legacy. So the name Bush will forever define "executive incompetence" and be lower than worms. So the Roveian blueprint for an era of GOP dominance that extends across a generation (65-35 Senate? 280-155 House? Dare to dream!) has imploded into caustic infighting that will rip the party apart. That's no reason to be down in the mouth, son!

Don't let it be forgot
That once there was a spot
For one brief shining moment
That was known as Winalot.

Come Wednesday, we'll get all the same "what happened? the polls all said Dems would win" stories.

Santorum wins. Steele wins, Burns wins, and DeWine wins, and no way Kyl loses. None. Zero. Zilch.

"Casey, he's a dead man! Cardin, DEAD! Brown, DEAD! Tester, dead! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer, dead!"

Brian, my overeager friend... this Tuesday, my advice to you is to begin drinking heavily.

The Weekly Standard's midterm election predictions were, like the timing of the Saddam verdict and falling gas prices, orchestrated by Karl Rove. Read into that what you will. That's all I'm telling you.
