Somebody get the clue bat

The Democrats are dead set against personal accounts for Social Security, refusing to even discuss reform unless they’re taken off the table. Yesterday DNC chairman Howard Dean gave a speech accusing the Bush administration from failing to protect private pensions. Here’s an excerpt from the WashPost:

The only solution that Dean suggested is to make pensions portable, saying pension plans "ought not to be controlled by companies, they ought to be controlled by the people who those pensions belong to." Pension portability was not a major issue in the Democrats' 2004 presidential campaign.
Got that? People should have control over their own retirement funds because you just can’t trust the government private companies to fulfill a promise to fund your pension.
