The funniest movie I ever saw

Ace lists his favorite good-bad movies and my mind drifts back to the best unintentionally funny movie ever: “SST: Death Flight.”

In case the title didn’t tip you off, this is a 1970s disaster movie. Any doubt of this is dispelled by the cast list:

Bert Convy – check
Burgess Meredith – check
Robert Reed – check
Tina Louise – check
Season Hubley - check
Peter Graves – check
Lorne Greene - check
Doug McClure – check
And the ultimate seventies porn name: Brock Peters

I first caught this made-for-TV movie late night at college and my roommates and I howled with laughter. Bert Convy wears a suit that is 98% lapels and I recall my buddy yelling out “Hey Bert, couldn’t you find a wider tie?” Robert Reed plays the tough-as-nails captain spouting dialogue worse than anything ever uttered on “The Brady Bunch.” And the special effects! The SST is obviously a model on a blue screen and (several times) we could see the stick somebody was shaking to produce “turbulence.” We laughed to tears.
