MR. RUSSERT: Will you allow the Red Cross to visit the American and British prisoners of war?And here’s Newsday today:
AMB. AL-DOURI: I think this is the elementary rules of international humanitarian law. Certainly, we’ll permit. If they are—if they had not did yet, I think certainly it is—there is a possibility. I am sure that they will do that.
The international Red Cross yesterday began visiting prisoners of war held by coalition forces in Iraq but has yet to receive word that it can see American POWs taken by the Iraqi military.
