News is breaking tonight that Putin is demanding the Donbass region in exchange for a cease fire. There is zero chance Zelensky is going to approve this and a lot of Europeans are going to recoil at a "peace in our time" settlement.
Maybe this is all a chess game for Trump where he can later reject Putin's offer and say "well I tried!" before launching a new wave of sanctions to isolate Russia. As much as Trump wants to end this war, I hope he'll see that he can only make a deal with somebody willing to negotiate.
