Kudos to Bill Whitaker

I watched his interview with Kamala Harris on "60 Minutes" where he repeatedly and assiduously tried to crowbar her off her teleprompter-speech talking points.  The immigration exchange, in particular, was quite good when he asked why this Administration didn't take executive action (such as the one they're now touting) three years ago.

Bottom line: none of the immigration debacle is Joe Biden or Kamala Harris's fault.  It's the fault of Congress for not passing a law in 2021 and then it was Donald Trump's fault in 2024.

I especially liked the opening to "60 Minutes," explaining in excruciating detail why only one candidate was appearing on the program while the other had chickened out.

"Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump accepted our invitation. But, unfortunately, last week, Trump canceled. The Trump campaign had told us that the interview would be this past Thursday.

On September 9, Trump's communications director Steven Cheung sent a text that read, quote, "I'm working with our advance team to see if logistically Butler [Pennsylvania] would work in addition to the sit-down." "Sit-down" meaning the interview in Florida.

Days later, Cheung called to say, quote, "The president said yes."

Then, a week ago, Trump backed out.

The campaign offered shifting explanations. First it complained that we would fact-check the interview. We fact-check every story.

Later, Trump said he needed an apology for his interview in 2020. Trump claims correspondent Leslie Stahl said in that interview that Hunter Biden's controversial laptop came from Russia. She never said that.

Trump has said his opponent doesn't do interviews because she can't handle them. He had previously declined another debate with Harris. So tonight may have been the largest audience for the candidates between now and Election Day."

FUN FACT: The reality of the 2020 interview with Stahl was that Trump whined on camera about how unfair and inappropriate it was to be asked “tough questions,” and then stalked off the set.

People later realized that 60 Minutes explained in even more excruciating detail why only one candidate was appearing...she was to be given the special honor to receive the epistemological opposite of a "fact check", that being the after-the-fact refashioning of a word salad response about Netanyahu and Israel into something sounding more coherent.

Don't be sad. Your beloved Chickenshit will surely show his strength by taking tough questions from Tomi Lahren and Catturd.

Hee hee... just saw that the above shock word salad claim comes from a tweet from No-Show Trump, and a subsequent Trump campaign "demand" to release the "incoherent" "unedited transcript."

Somebody tell the late great Hannibal Lecter to stop eating the dogs and investigate!
