Metaphor for the 2010 election - George W. Bush's Texas Rangers defeat the New York Times Yankees for the American League Championship. The Texans will advance to the World Series for the first time in franchise history.

One other thing: Karma's a bitch. At some point in the game, a Yankee (Swisher?) was clearly hit by a pitch and should have advanced to first without advancing the runner on third base. But the Yankee put on a show that he wasn't hit and the "wild pitch" allowed a runner to score. Well, the Texans won convincingly anyway, so there.

Extra - Yeah, it was Swisher.

More - ALCS MVP went to Josh Hamilton who gave the glory to Jesus. SDG.

George W. Bush financed his cut of the Texas Rangers by taking out a loan, then repaying the bank with funds from an insider stock deal, dumping his holdings in an energy company that was about to fail. After becoming President, Bush blocked the release of the SEC's violations report on his stock sale.

On land seized under eminent domain, the Rangers built a new stadium using a debt bond funded by taxpayer money. Despite the public revenue source, and despite the fact that the stadium's cost has not been paid, the resulting structure is privately held. Less than a decade after Bush's group purchased the Rangers, the team, including its new stadium, was sold. George W. Bush realized a small 2,500% profit overall, or a 15,000% profit on the personal money he'd actually invested. The Texas Rangers have since filed for bankruptcy.

So yeah, it's a very apt metaphor.

Be it 2010 Rangers or 2010 Republicans:
Washing away that George W. Bush stink = VICTORY!

Geez, I was just trying a ham-handed politics-to-baseball connection. As a Red Sox fan, I'm just happy the Yankees lost.

It's like waving a red cape.

Hah, I was thinking the same thing! MLB must be thrilled about these big TV audiences they'll be pulling.
