Abby normal

It's times like this that I'm reminded of a quote by conservative columnist P.J. O'Rourke during the election season:
"I am endorsing Hillary, and all her lies and all her empty promises," O'Rourke continued. "It's the second-worst thing that can happen to this country, but she's way behind in second place. She's wrong about absolutely everything, but she's wrong within normal parameters."
Emphasis added.  I really can't wrap my head around the childish behavior of this Administration, this morning demonstrated with a wrestling video of Trump tackling CNN.  What makes it worse, in my opinion, is that this isn't just another one of Trump's ill-advised tweets: somebody in the White House media room must have prepared this video.  He or she shared it with Trump and they all laughed and laughed and thought it was a great idea to tweak those jerks at CNN.

The theory behind "speak softly and carry a big stick" is that you're thoughtful and circumspect, but willing to take action if necessary.  Trump's contra-theory is to swing wildly and let the chips fall where they may.

Extra - Everybody over at Instapundit thinks this is great because screw the media.  I can sympathize: yes, the media maintains a double-standard for Republicans and they overreact to everything and they deserve every bit of criticism.  But is this juvenile display is not the way to do it.  The White House, as an institution, should be held to a higher standard.

Or maybe it is.  I've been so consistently wrong about Trump that maybe this is the way things are now.

Update - It looks like the video was not prepared by somebody in the White House but instead some anonymous Redditor, which means the President of the United States is scrolling through r/The_Donald for material.  Great.

I guess I cant get excited about the "dignity of the office" after all Hussein removed all dignity from the office with his public behavior. Trump is telling the guttersnipes that their pig pen is getting emptied.

sdharms sounds like the kind of guy who was incensed when Obama put his feet on the desk, or wore a tan suit to a press conference, or put mustard on his hamburger... and not even regular mustard, but elitist mustard. Don't even get him started on those terrorist fist bumps.

Ah, you mean like when Truman pardoned the Murderous Pendergast machine? Or when Pornstar used women to warm his cigars? Or Barry endlessly flipping people off? Or perhaps the well mannered LBJ? What has Trump actually DONE that compares to any of that?

Don't wrap your head around Trump's behavior. Think of the Supreme Court and where it would be in Hillary had won. Think about how the Court will look if Trump places two or more Justices. Think of the all of the Conservatives that will be appointed to the lower Courts. Trump will only have 1 or 2 terms, but the judges he appoints will be around for decades.

O'Rourke is happy with losing and having Hillary leaving her mark on the government. Face it people like him are part of the problem.

Eric - check out the following article in 'The Federalist': 'Progressives Destroyed Normalcy And Now They’re Shocked Trump Isn’t Normal'.

Its basic premise is that progressives think that Trump "isn't normal", but goes on to point out that in a world where anybody who thinks there are only two biological genders is a bigot, then there is no such thing as normalcy. It goes on further to point out that Trump recognized this early on in his campaign, and is using it to the max.

We hear that silver lining invoked a lot these days, because decent conservatives are ashamed to acknowledge much else that is going on.

One problem with the claim is that Justice Gorsuch is Mitch McConnell's success, not Donald Trump's.

And you may have to think of all the Conservatives that will be appointed to the lower Courts, rather than seeing them, because eight months after his election, Trump has nominated a whopping 17 people to fill more than 160 high court vacancies.

Also, the silver lining presupposes that Donald Trump is the only Republican (or "Republican") in the country who was capable of beating the beloved Hillary Clinton -- in which case the GOP would be well and truly screwed.

But good luck to the party of values, as it openly roots for Ruth Ginsburg to hurry up and drop dead.

(That was in reply to DavidH's post. Not the one that likes the idea that if biology is fluid, so must be coherence and civilized behavior.)

@Septa Unella,

Gorsuch can be be McConnell's success, doesn't matter, at the end of day he is on the Court.
You might have more expertise in this than me, but 16 judges in just over 6 months sounds good to me. It probably takes time to get the pipeline full. Why rush it and get the wrong people appointed or give the media another reason to howl

Trump nominated Gorsuch. He could have nominated anyone. McConnell does what is best for himself politically . all the time. every time. Look at the other nominees and confirmed (lower judges, Cabinet) -- McConnell had NOT ONE THING to do with. He is a cat herder.
And yes, Anonymous, I am that "kind of guy", a 69 year old grandmother whose father was a POW of the Germans, and who had two sons serving this country --- 1st Cav and 96Bravo. I grew up on Army bases all over the world. I am sick to death of politicians -- it is time for some "give as good as you get" behavior. The problem today is we gave up the practice of drinking from the skulls of our enemies. And yes, I would kiss my mother with this mouth.

Not 17 judges... 17 nominees. Only three have been confirmed. Many of the other 14 have already been "blue slipped" (unilaterally blocked by a single Senator), so they're going to languish.

As of yet, Trump's pipeline is a ghost town. He's way, way behind the pace of previous presidents.

Trump has also nominated just 134 of the more than 560 positions requiring Senate confirmation. Just 46 of those 180 have been confirmed. Several departments and agencies are entirely or almost entirely vacant below the head person, and some departments don't even have the head. Again, that's far behind the pace of Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan...

Which matters not because of a scoreboard standing, but because despite his flurry of folder signing ceremonies, Trump is getting far less accomplished than Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, and so on.

To paraphrase.

Donald is a clown.

Everyone in DC/The Media are clowns too,but won't admit it.

Donald annoys all the other clowns in DC with a 10 sec tweet.

I like it.

Half a year into Obama's term:
Averts disaster with the stimulus package; college tuition tax credit passed; Office of Urban Policy created; auto industry bailout implemented; Omnibus Public Land Management Act; 2,500+ highway projects approved; electronic medical records system instituted; Lilly Ledbetter pay act passed; stem cell research ban lifted; S-CHIP expanded; torture policy reversed; etc

Half a year into Trump's term:
Makes the snowflake libtards cry; may not have technically obstructed justice
