The insurance companies are boned

A good roundup of the recent Obamacare opinions in "The death of the individual mandate."  With this week's "hardship" exemption, the basis for the health insurance cost model is falling apart and the health insurers will be left holding the bag.

The structural defects in the law are because it was designed with the insurance industry's hopes and dreams in mind at every turn. A minority party government interested in fixing the problems rather than profiting from them could be doing so. You'll notice only one of those two groups has been screeching.

So now it's getting piecemeal and sloppy. And it's something being done to the insurance and Republican industries, rather than chickens coming home to roost? That one rates an "oh well" at best, and a "nice try" at worst.

I can quite imagine that the insurance companies will soon feel like Luke Skywalker at the end of return of the Jedi when the Emperor gloats that he now knows the truth too late.

They now know that it’s a really bad idea to trust the Democratic National Socialist Left Party.

No one else should trust them either.
