Best Congress ever, continued - From Politico: "This much is clear: Democrats in Congress buckled under pressure from the White House to hold spending near the administration's specified limit, and they're poised to give the president more war money with no strings attached. But the buckling didn't stop there."

An effective Congress would be following up on its own subpoenas and pursuing impeachment. This one is too much impressed by the example of what happened to Newt Gingrich after "shutting down" the government.

The Dems are sitting on a three-touchdown lead (bad economy, bad war, opinion polls, campaign money, open seats, 70% "derangement") and they're running out the clock until 2008.

Not very inspiring, no. Prevent defense, yes. But let's not pretend we can't fathom the Democrats' "inactivity" and "incompetence." This is the plan. And it will work. Maybe another plan might have worked even better, but this is the plan.

The economy is doing fine, despite the drive-bys trying to talk it down; the war is turning around, so the drive-bys have dropped it from the front pages. That lead you talk about isn't very large, if it exists at all.

Well said, Dale! The economy is doing fine, we're finally winning the war, and the Democrats aren't in the lead. Also, the septic tank just exploded, and it's raining free ice cream!
