I heard Harry Reid is a pederast but I don't believe it - However, I would like to know how he amassed a net worth of over $10 million.  Also, I heard from some guy that all his charitable contributions go to the Communist Party and the Church of Scientology, but he won't release his tax returns so I'm forced to assume the worst.

At least part of that is clearly wrong. He actually has a shrine to Moloch in his basement. At least that is what I read somewhere on the Internet, so it must be true.

I hear Harry Hussein Reid was born in Kenya, was indoctrinated in a madrasa, faked his college records, pals around with terrorists, and is going to take away your guns. Before that, he fraudulently acquired Purple Heart medals, claimed he invented the internet, and burned a flag in Oxford while murdering Vince Foster.

Who wants a yummy hertz donut?

It was nice of Harry Reid to validate the tactics of the Birthers, Swiftboaters, and Donald Trump.

One itsy-bitsy difference: Romney has already lied about his taxes for political purposes. In 2002, Romney's legal eligibility to run in Massachusetts was challenged, because it was questioned whether he had been declaring himself as a resident of the state for enough years to qualify. He said that he had been filing as a co-resident of both Massachusetts and Utah. When asked to provide his back tax returns to prove it, even with all financial information blacked out, Romney refused, telling the press, “You’ll have to take my word for it.” After that, days before the eligibilty deadline, Romney filed resubmitted IRS forms that retroactively listed Massachusetts as his co-residence.

Then, he went after his opponent for... not revealing enough of her tax history!

Mitt Romney, 2002, on Democratic opponent Shannon O’Brien: “Shannon O’Brien’s husband, with whom I presume they share expenses, likewise hasn’t released his income taxes.”

Romney’s deputy campaign manager, 2002:
“Her hands aren’t clean. She can’t claim to be disclosing anything until she discloses the returns of her husband... What is she hiding?

Of course, this is all moot since Mitt Romney is certain to show Harry Reid up as a lying liar by doing what every other Presidential nominee for decades has done.

I saw David Axelrod on FNS this morning and I think I can sum up this campaign thusly:

Obama 2012: Where are Romney's tax returns?

Romney 2012: 8.3% unemployment

The GOP campaign is slightly more complex than that.

"Government doesn't create jobs... unless there's a Democratic President, in which case bad job growth is all his fault."

Eugene Robinson:
"If Reid is being as cynical and mendacious as Republicans charge, Romney could demolish the majority leader’s credibility — and put the whole issue to rest — with a single phone call instructing his accountant to release the returns. “I have paid taxes every year. A lot of taxes. A lot of taxes,” he said. But he still won’t make that call.

He also told Reid to “put up or shut up,” which is comical. Romney is the one holding the tax returns, not Reid. Only the candidate can “put up” — and he steadfastly refuses to do so.

Romney did release his 2010 tax return, and he promises to release the full 2011 return when it is completed. No recent presidential candidate has tried to get away with such meager disclosure.

In 2010, Romney paid a tax rate of 13.9 percent on income of $21.7 million. The most affluent wage-earners pay income tax at a rate of 35 percent, but Romney, whose net worth has been estimated at $250 million, earned most of his money from investments and thus pays the lower rate for capital gains.

Asked last week whether there had been years when he paid less than 13.9 percent, Romney said he would be “happy to go back and look” at his records. So far, however, the campaign has declined to provide an answer. Romney must still be looking.

What strikes you as more improbable: That Harry Reid has a mysterious source with intimate knowledge of Romney’s finances? Or that a man who made a quarter of a billion dollars from his skill at reading balance sheets has no clue of how much he’s been paying in taxes?"
