Hillary: "L'etat c'est moi"

Everybody is up in arms about Hillary declaring that she'll change gun laws in this country by executive fiat.  But I took notice at this little bit of pique at the Benghazi committee:
“This committee was set up, as they have admitted, for the purpose of making a partisan political issue out of the deaths of four Americans,” she said. “I would never have done that, and if I were president and there were Republicans or Democrats thinking about that, I would have done everything to shut it down.”
There you have it: a President Clinton would have "shut down" a Congressional investigative committee because separation of powers is for suckers.  How dare you suggest she's above the law!

By the way, if you missed it, the Benghazi investigation has dragged on by design:
The State Department announced Friday that it is sending the House Benghazi committee nearly 1,000 emails from Hillary Clinton's private account — a batch three times larger than the set of Clinton messages her former agency sent to Capitol Hill back in May.
This Clinton playbook is so old: admit a minor infraction, drag out the investigation, then declare it "old news" because we have "more important issues to deal with."  Now stop asking about my email.

But would she end Obamacare, tear up the Iran agreement, and kill the EPA's regulations... "on Day One"?

"She"? OK, yes, President Fiorina can tear up the Iran agreement because it's an EXECUTIVE order. It has no standing as law or treaty.

As for Obamacare: Obama opened the door for "selective enforcement" of the "law" so why can't a Republican President? Go wild.

Yes, be sure to wake us as soon as any of those things occurs: Presidential shutdowns of Congressional committees, the piecemeal dismantling of Obamacare, unilateral revoking of the Iran deal, etc. On Day One, Day Two, or Day Five Hundred and Twelve.

But they sure sound good to the yahoos, from the campaign stump. I can't wait to take the grandkids to the new, free border wall.

Great, another comment thread predicated on future events.

You win: those things will never happen because.

Oh, I'm sorry, my bad. Let's go back to the solid past that you wanted to talk about, when President Hillary Clinton shut down partisan Benghazi investigations and Congress said "Oh, well."

So you agree it was moronic for Hillary to claim she has the Constitutional authority to "shut down" a Congressional inquiry? Yes, you do. And you apologized in the future.

Apologize for what? Am I out there, saying cheap rhetoric on the campaign trail? I know I'm only percentage points behind Jeb Bush in the polls, but I've been pretty stay-at-home. I'm taking a page from the William McKinley campaign playbook.

You've overlooked the fact that I explicitly equated Hillary Clinton's stupid and punchless declaration with other correspondingly stupid and punchless declarations. You're the one backing up all but one of those solemn vows. I'm the one saying that each of the promises is pandering bullshit for the red meat morons.

But Hillary's words were, in themselves, highly illegal. I saw it in "Minority Report."

Here's the distinction: Hillary's stupid and punchless declaration is expressly unconstitutional.

The "day one" declarations of the Republicans are perhaps unlikely, but they are EXACTLY the actions taken by this current executive. Never mind, you wave your hand, those things which have happened cannot happen in the future.

At least the GOP's red meat has at least a legal standing.

But is Hillary's phony applause line far more terrifying or Constitution-shredding than the totally sincere and not at all bombastic 2015 campaign statements of...

...Jeb Bush saying he would dock Congress members' pay whenever they skip votes?
...Or Rand Paul's legislation mandating the reenfranchisement of felons?
...Or Ben Carson's affirmation that Islam is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution?
...Or Donald Trump saying he will deny citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants?
...Or Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz saying that states or individuals can refuse to comply with Supreme Court rulings?

It must be easier on the constitution... er, on one's health... to quake in rage and fear over one candidate's bogus crap, than over seven of them.

You know who takes Hillary's bodacious Benghazi B.S. even more seriously than you have? The late Kevin McCarthy.
