Right ho, doctor! Here come the Brits

From the UK Telegraph "Biggest brain drain from UK in 50 years":

Britain is experiencing the worst "brain drain" of any country as highly qualified professionals settle abroad, an authoritative international study showed yesterday.

Record numbers of Britons are leaving - many of them doctors, teachers and engineers - in the biggest exodus for almost 50 years.
I love that Hugh Laurie on "House." Anyway, big surprise, high taxes are cited as a possible cause for the largest brain drain since WWII.

That's why their free healthcare gives you 3rd world doctors who went to medical school in Bangladesh. President Hillary or Obama will bring that here if they get the chance.

Didn't we just get this anecdotal story a few months ago, only Britain's finest minds were all fleeing to Sweden?

And what of the fact that England has a lower tax rate, both personal and corporate, than virtually all the destination countries listed? Doesn't that poke a few holes in the assumption?

What a moronic, moronic remark. The article says:
"The emigration was leading to a rapid change in British society as large numbers of highly-skilled immigrants moved to this country to replace those leaving, he said.
"Britain has been lucky - although it has lost substantial numbers of people, it has attracted more than a million skilled immigrants to replace them. If they stop coming then that would be a problem."

Sorry but a vast majority of the skilled immigrants come from places like Bangla Desh. And it is hard to find english nationals working as doctors in hospitals.

Sorry but the first poster's comment wasn't a straightforward appraisal of the latest guest worker demographics. It was a "THIS CAN HAPPEN HERE!" combination of flatheaded jingoism and Democrat-panic.
