Liberal cocooning – By the Kossacks in Las Vegas and the NY Times. Why do lefty bloggers always the play the “Finally, our voices will be heard!” routine? Who was stopping you before? Nevermind: fight the power!

"People see that we are bloggers, the fear goes, and that we’re on the left, and they think we’re nuts. “How do you avoid being seen as just a bunch of crazy bloggers?” asked one person."
Ummmmh, maybe by not being on the left, nuts, and blogging it?
It's really weird. I knew Kos pretty well, I think (as an acquaintance who discussed things with him a lot), when he was an undergraduate. He was smart and passionate, but it sounds more and more like he's totally divorced from reality.
I understand that he gets some 250,000 unique hits a day, or something, but he should understand that there are probably 250,000 Seventh Day Advocates out there pounding on doors, equally convinced that they're right, and people don't seem to be converting to their belief all that quickly, either.
After all, William Jennings Bryant was nominated as an outsider (originally) 3 times by the Dems and won -- oh, nothing. If not for the Republican split in 1912, the Dems would not have won a presidential election in the 20th century before Roosevelt.

Looks like the same story to me.
