In 2019, Vice President Kamala Harris told CNN’s Jake Tapper that social media companies “are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation and it has to stop.”Does it?Every two-bit authoritarian in history has justified censoring its citizens as a way of protecting them from the menace of disinformation.
If there's free speech, somebody might ask Kamala about her policies. Can't have that.
Extra - Powerline: "Free speech for her." Not for you.

In Trump's first week in office, he issued gag orders to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Health and Human Services, forcing each to stop making statements to the press and the public. He ordered an EPA webpage with data demonstrating climate change to be removed from the internet.
Last week, Trump said that anyone who burns an American flag must go to prison for one year.
In between, Trump consistently advocated for "opening up" libel laws so that he could sue and suppress the media for reporting negative stories.
He attacked whistleblowers who were protected by United States law, repeatedly saying they should receive the death penalty.
On the free speech haven that is Truth Social, Trump banned users for posting the "wrong way" on the January 6 sedition riot, and "shadow banned" such posts.
As always, "Why do you look at the mote of dust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the forest thicket in your own eye?"
