I support this practice

Reason: "Kids Should Be Blindfolded and Dropped in the Woods at Night - In the Netherlands, kids grow up with more independence than in the United States."

At the risk of dating myself, my youth was spent playing Nerf football in the street during the day and then playing "Manhunt" well into the dark.  Never once did I have a "playdate" and I walked to school every day of my life (yes, even kindergarten).  Some have suggested that the declining birthrate in America is connected to the time and expense of driving your kid to soccer practice or ballet lessons every other day.
