Al Qaeda? Oh heavens no - Treacher: "Let the record of the Benghazi attack show...whatever Obama needs it to show."

It was that darn You Tube guy.  Washington Examiner: "Al Qaeda is alive and GM is half-dead."

Treacher's analysis that has you fired up:

“Over the last 7 days, the Obama administration has repeatedly insisted that the attack on our Libyan consulate and the murder of Christopher Stevens on 9/11 was all because of a YouTube video that mocked Islam. Remember that? Remember how they kept saying “Innocence of Muslims” is such a mean and nasty video, so very insensitive and hurtful, that those poor victimized Muslims just couldn’t help themselves? Not that the U.S. government condones the murder of our own ambassador, of course, but hey, whaddaya gonna do? This amateur filmmaker should’ve thought about that before he committed murder by proxy.

Why, as recently as last night, Obama was telling David Letterman that it was all the fault of a “shadowy character” with a YouTube account and an outdated understanding of the First Amendment. Yet another private citizen thrown under the bus for standing in the way of Obama’s path to power.

Yeah, about that whole deal… Maybe not so much? Foreign Policy reports:

The Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was in fact “a terrorist attack” and the U.S. government has indications that members of al Qaeda were directly involved, a top Obama administration official said Wednesday morning.
“I would say yes, they were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy,” Matt Olsen, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said Wednesday at a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, in response to questioning from Chairman Joe Lieberman (I-CT) about the attack that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.
As for who was responsible, Olsen said it appears there were attackers from a number of different militant groups that operate in and around Benghazi, and said there are already signs of al Qaeda involvement.”

Nigel looked at the video of his Letterman appearance. Obama did refer to him as a ‘shadowy character’ (so what?), and went on to say that extremists and terrorists used the video as a pretext to commit acts of violence, which the President characterized as unacceptable. That doesn't quite match up with what Treacher wants to see.

Treacher’s ‘gotcha’ is a quote from a guy from the Obama administration, who doesn’t insist it was “all the fault” of the movie guy.

Cognitive dissonance has to kick in sooner or later.
