Stopgap measure - Mickey Kaus reviews the auto bailout and decides that the $17 billion loan is just postponing some serious sacrifice in the future and there will be no appetite among Americans for another cash infusion.
Personally, I thought it was scathingly brilliant to punt the political football forward three months. The coming bankruptcy will occur on solidly Democrat turf - DC, Michigan, and Detroit all under Democrat control.
Yes, a scathingly brilliant move. And a chronological line in the sand that will absolve the GOP.
But just so we're clear on this, the Sept. 11 attacks, North Korea getting the bomb, the recessions, the mortgage crisis, and the last two seasons of "Heroes" are still Bill Clinton's fault.

I thought there was no appetite for the initial bailout. The next bailout likely won't be the last, either.
