Runner-up quote of the day - From the New York Times, on a letter criticizing Caroline Kennedy as a potential Senate replacement: "It should not have been published."  Not, as you might suspect, because it's against editorial policy to criticize Democrats but because the letter was a fake.  Well, it's been five years, so we were due for a new low point at the Times (not to be confused with this low point.)
