Fox flubs Daytona 500 coverage

It seemed like every time Fox cut away from the Race, something would happen on the track. The slavish urge to collect advertising dollars reached its nadir with 20 laps left as the drivers were three-wide. Commercials? Now? Sure enough, not 15 seconds into the break, there was a huge pile-up. Adding insult to injury, Fox decided to play the audio from one of the spotters trying to guide his car through the accident. The monologue went like this: “Stay low stay low stay low [car crashes] f---“. I’m not sure if my 9-year-old heard it.

Better petition the FCC, just to be on the safe side.

Our local cable system gave us a free preview of the "NASCAR IN CAR" feature and during commercials I would flip over to it because it was somewhat interesting to watch the race listening to the incar radio and seeing all the car's dashboard gages. During the second to last wreck, when it appeared Gordon took the lead from Stewart the firt time, you could hear the spotter telling the driver (I believe it Earnhardt's car) that there was a wreck behind him. I flip back over to Fox, but they were still in commercial, and stayed in commercial for at least 30 seconds. I flipped back to the InCar and they were showing a yellow flag, but FOX took forever coming back from coomercial.

They also missed a pit stop earlier in the race where Gordon took the lead from Waltrip at around Lap 64 I think. What was aggravating about that was the commentator said they were going to commercial at that point in order to specifically not miss the pit stops. Instead, they not only missed the pit stop, but the lead change as well.
