The most striking graph here, as Patrick points out, is how Democrats became the party of educated snobs while the Republican party is now the part of the working people.

Re "party of the educated," please bear in mind that (1) "uneducated" is not the same as "unintelligent;" (2) to some minds, degrees in puppetry, gender studies, and the rhetoric of comic strips count as education; and (3) not all education occurs in institutions—Abraham Lincoln was largely self-educated, but was was prodigiously intelligent.
