The poverty rate in the United States increased last year, the first increase in 13 years, according to the Census Bureau. In 2022, the poverty rate was 12.4%, up 4.6% from 2021, according to the Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM), which looks at government programs and tax credits designed to help low-income families, according to the census.
Because nothing bad is ever Joe Biden's fault, he blamed the expiration of the child tax credit expansion on December 31, 2021 for the spike in the poverty rate. The tax credit allowed for an extra $300/month while inflation is costing Americans $709/month.

This post is very dumb.
Is the post unsatisfactory or is the comprehension of the reader the limitation? Seems some people would rather not be reminded our future is suffering immensely. Those that do make a better future for children today are the hero's.
Viking was mad at Biden for saying that the expiration of the child tax credit expansion caused the poverty rate to spike.
He doesn't appear to be mad that the expiration of the child tax credit expansion DID cause the poverty rate to spike. And that contrast is very dumb.
There's widespread economic agreement that what Biden said happened is indeed what happened. Viking does not want to hear that. He would rather blame inflation.
But inflation is sharply down from last year... when child poverty was at a historic low. Which was before the child tax credit expansion was allowed to expire.
