This is for school assessments, not students: "Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a bill Monday to toss out the Republican-backed A-F letter grade system for evaluating Michigan schools, saying the policy amounted to "burdensome requirements."
This immediately reminded me of this scene in "Fresh off the Boat" where a teacher is explaining the American grading system:

Michigan already had, and will still have a school ranking system for parents.
ABCDF was such a great policy that the previous Republican Governor Rick Snyder signed it into law in the last hours of his second term, as he was heading out the door.
