Above the law

Commentary: "What are 147 FBI agents doing?"  "Taken out of a political context, I don’t think there’s much doubt that anyone who did something as reckless and blatantly illegal as Clinton would have been charged in the case."

"What are 147 FBI agents doing?"

At least a hundred of them are playing FarmVille and Angry Birds.

Washington Post:
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article reported that 147 FBI agents had been detailed to the investigation, according to a lawmaker briefed by FBI Director James B. Comey. Two U.S. law enforcement officials have since told The Washington Post that figure is too high. The FBI will not provide an exact figure, but the officials say the number of FBI personnel involved is fewer than 50

More than that, according to Time Magazine's reporting:

"20 to 30 agents, technical specialists and analysts have been assigned to the investigation, according to sources familiar with it."

"Move along, nothing to see here. Nothing at all."

As other media outlets have looked into the original crazy claim, the number has dropped slightly, from 147 FBI agents (WaPo) to fewer than 50 agents (WaPo correction) to 20-30 agents (Time) to 12 agents (NBC News).

Turns out that investigating Hillary Clinton's server is a lot like playing drums for Spinal Tap.

Former federal law official with direct knowledge, to NBC News: "There are currently about 12 FBI agents working full-time on the case."

Former FBI official, to NBC News: "147 was such a ridiculous number. You need an act of terrorism to get 50 agents working on something,"
