This article is as supercilious as you would expect

Here's the NY Times (natch) resident pedant Maureen Dowd, eager to tell you how well-read she is: "Attention, Men: Books Are Sexy!"

"Why are you guys always looking at your phones and voting for Trump?" a confused Dowd laments.  This piece drips with hauteur and any other newspaper editor outside the NYT would have rejected it as both self-serving and hectoring.

You know, to a certain extent, I agree with Dowd and I wish Americans would read more classic fiction.  But she's the wrong messenger and the NY Times is the wrong forum.  My first thought after reading it was that Dowd has never changed a tire in her life.
