Dear, dear. The "liberal migrant hypocrisy" schadenfreude is just too self-fulfilling a fairy tale for conservatives or racists to abandon.
While you hurl gleeful apples, New York City is actually expanding its housing and shelters and services and schooling for migrants. (Hot Air buzzed right past that small detail, too.)
Declaring a state of emergency immediately makes resources available, and allows a city or state to quickly apply for more. It isn't articles of surrender.
Justification for the emergency must be made, or else mayors and governors would declare them all the time.
And so, New York City continues to be more fundamentally American than the demagogue governors and their troll fanboys.
