You and me both, brother

Jim Treacher: "I Am Really Freaking Sick of Anthony Fauci":
This isn’t science. This is religion. Fauci has styled himself as the Pope of COVID, and his enablers in the media have been more than happy to confer him with papal infallibility. He’s established himself as the only true mediator between the unwashed masses and God Science. And whenever he says something that doesn’t make sense or he contradicts himself, well, don’t you fret your little head about it. You just need to have faith. Pope Anthony the First would never lie to you.
This guy was supposed to be the face of Science in this time of uncertainty and he just engendered more uncertainty by contradicting himself at every turn.

Remember when stupid people thought politicizing an apolitical virus and slandering scientists would help win reelection for Trump?

The Office of Donald J. Trump
March 10, 2021
Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States

I hope everyone remembers when they’re getting the COVID-19 (often referred to as the China Virus) Vaccine, that if I wasn’t president, you wouldn‘t be getting that beautiful ‘shot’ for 5 years, at best, and probably wouldn’t be getting it at all. I hope everyone remembers!

NARRATOR: No one remembers it that way.

Joe Biden: "In fact, even if we get a vaccine, it will not be available for most of the population until well into 2021."

NBC News: "Fact check: Coronavirus vaccine could come this year, Trump says. Experts say he needs a 'miracle' to be right."

"President-elect Joe Biden receives a dose of a coronavirus vaccine in Newark, Del., December 21, 2020."

A simple thank you would have sufficed.

You previously pulled the Colonel Jessup "Just say thank you" mic drop on January 1, 2018.

So once again, I'm forced to ask: you do know that Col. Jessup was the guilty bad guy in that movie, don't you? To quote Demi Moore, "You keep using that movie reference. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

In the same 2018 post, you also touted the stock market hitting new highs as evidence of Donald Trump's impressive "results." But a growing or shrinking economy that soon in any new president's tenure is mostly a holdover from the previous administration's fiscal policies and luck -- plus, the stock market isn't even the best representation of America's financial health -- and yet, Google draws a blank on conservatives giving due credit in January 2018 to Barack Obama for the roaring recovery that he'd built and Trump was merely the recipient of. Certainly there was no retroactive Obama fist bump in your post.

Which makes the peevish demand for Trump's pandemic response credit ring low and hollow.

The country isn't listening, either. Because the country saw Trump's Covid performance for what it was.

Thanks for confirming that Trump's efforts produced the vaccine that Democrats said wouldn't be available for "years or decades."

Pfizer was already conducting its first human study on its vaccine by the time the first dollar of Trump's laughably-named "Operation Warp Speed" was approved by Mitch McConnell.

When Trump refused to "take any responsibility at all" on Covid, he forfeited his opportunity to receive any credit at all on Covid.

History doesn't award participation trophies.

April 2020: "Fauci, director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, said that the earliest the US could possibly get a vaccine would be in 12 or even 18 months - "at least."

At least!

Oh boy. You can't possibly want to get into dueling quotes to see who said the wrongest, dumbest, vilest things about the pandemic.

(Hint: although the date of the vaccine's arrival is an INALTERABLE KNOWN FACT, he said THIS WEEK that a vaccine would have taken a minimum of 5 years to make, or maybe never.)

Back here on Earth, Pfizer beat all predictions and developed the first vaccine while pointedly refusing to partner up with the idiot bleach alchemist. Who's neeeeevver going to get the credit.

Pfizer never benefited from Operation Warp Speed?

The goalposts are making a run for it!

Operation Warp Speed didn't contribute a nickel towards the Pfizer vaccine's research and development. There already was a finished Pfizer vaccine in human clinical trials by April 2020. Operation Warp Speed was launched weeks later in May 2020.

Pfizer's agreement with the Trump federal government was to deliver its product when and if it was approved by the FDA. Their vaccine got there first, working in concert with BioNTech, not with Trump.

Which is why Trump later needed to publicly beg, "For those great ‘historians’, please remember that these great discoveries, which will end the China Plague, all took place on my watch!"

Eric said...

So that's a yes. You're doing great!

I doubt you can win your argument with chronological time. But it'll be fun to see you try.

We won't even get into the herd inanity of Republicans refusing to take the vaccine, while simultaneously insisting that Trump deserves credit for it.

Your glimmer of hope is my fault, and I apologize. I didn't put enough e's and v's into the word "neeeeevver."

Eric said...

Oh, I've already won. You lost.

Whining for an undeserved "thank you" that Trump is neeeeeeeevvvvvvver going to get is what winners do.
