If you want to be surprised when watching the Oscars - Don't check out the latest odds at British betting site Ladbrokes. Let's just say that the Best Actor Oscar is a stone cold lock.

A minor point: "How To Train Your Dragon" is listed at 10-1 odds for Best Animated Feature, while "The Illusionist" is at 25-1.

Since "Illusionist" is classic "serious artiste" critics' bait and "Train Your Dragon" is a better-than-most whooshing cineplex cartoon, you'd think that those Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences odds should be reversed.

Not that it matters, since "Toy Story 3" will bury them both. But if we were allowed to wager on the place finisher, I'd go for it, because I think Ladbrokes have gotten this unimportant detail wrong.

I only saw previews for "The Illusionist" when I saw "The King's Speech" but it looked like a throwback to classic animation. Far better than "Dragon" but probably without the emotional impact of "Toy Story 3."
