This just in - Joe Biden is done. Chris Dodd, too. Obama is speaking now and I can't help but admire the guy for all the reasons I dislike Hillary. He's genuine, passionate, and bold whereas Hillary is artificial and paralyzed by her pollster.

Iowa caucus: Percentage of total vote
    24.5% Obama
    20.5% Edwards
    19.8% Clinton
    11.4% Huckabee

One sweet indicator down, 999 points of light to go. 2008 is gonna be just wonderful.

I would subnit that the bigger story is that all the remaining Democratic contenders are VERY defeatable. Once America sees the stark choice of an Obama or Hillary versus a Guliani, Romney or Thompson, there's no way they'll put a Democrat in the white house in '08.

  4. America, did you type all that?

    Your keyboard must be huge.

The best the Democrats have to offer for president now, are 3 x one-term senators, none of whom has any executive experience whatsoever.

Enjoy your laughter. You're going to need it.

Only the democratic party could f-up this election cycle. This was arguably the most 'winnable' election in history for the dems, and they already blew it.

  7. He's got a point there: the Democrats are adept at finding ways to lose. Somebody get Bob Shrum out here!

    Here's ten matchups for you.

    Obama-Huckabee
    Obama-Romney
    Obama-McCain
    Obama-Thompson
    Obama-Guiliani
    Hillary-Huckabee
    Hillary-Romney
    Hillary-McCain
    Hillary-Thompson
    Hillary-Guiliani

Which one of those do the losing loser Democrats find a way to lose?

    All of them.

America, that's your cue to post again.

Dems nominate woefully unqualified one-term senators for president.

Republicans nominate governors. I.e. executives with actual executive experience.

Honestly, the best thing about beating liberals for the presidency isn't retaining the white house.

It's watching their heads explode when they realize they've lost - yet again.

It's sad if you believe your own malarkey... but it's hilarious if you don't. That's a win-win, baby!

Either way, 2008 is finally here. The bill is marked "past due." Everything you once thought glorious is now a liability. Your party is in shambles. And the feral dogs are fighting over the shambles.

Since there's nothing for we liberals to look forward to, let's look back. When was it that Bush & Rove were putting the final touches on the "permanent Republican majority"? Two years ago? Three? Mmmm, nostalgia always smells best when it's still fresh!

Because that's not 'malarkey', is it?

Dear 2008, I don't care if you masturbate on line, just try not to get any on the keyboard.

They're dooooomed, Eric, and they know it. It ain't sunk in completely yet, but they KNOW it deep down in their bones. They know it the way a fat dude knows he ain't gonna get laid at a frat party.

Jus' ain't gonna happen. Obama gives a GREAT speach, but that's not going to carry the white house & he knows it.

This man's got all kinds of skeletons in HIS closet, just screaming to get out!

I agree with Anonymous. But as for Anonymous, that guy's nuts.

Seriously, though, to those Anonymouses pimping the "Dems are dooooomed, as always" line: better hurry up and get all your graveyard whistling in now. If the GOP manages to "merely" lose the Presidency, 3 Senate seats and 15 House seats, that will be a conservative victory they'll write epic poems about.

    We'll see, U.T.L. We'll see. (and I can't WAIT!)

Sooner or later the Democratic nominee is going to hsve to stand up before the American people and explain WHY and to WHAT END they are so investded in a U.S. failure in the Middle East.

The Democtrats don't see it, but I do. There's a big ol' train headed for them next summer, but for some reason they just can't see it yet.

But it's coming, U.T.L., and it's gonna make your head ass-plode.

    I've got tickets.

Sheesh. Dumb as dirt, and proud of it.

Although your obsessive fondness for exploding heads explains why you keep getting your jollies from this Iraqi boondoggle.

You're right about one thing. This coming election is all about you, and your faction.

    Assume the position.

"You're right about one thing. This coming election is all about you, and your faction."

No sir. I'm right about Democrats fundamenbtally misunderstanding what the U.S. presidency is about.

Democrats think it is merely an opportunity every 4 years to prop up a rediculous, ranting cartoon in front of the American people to get attention.

Republicans understand that it is something much more.

    That's why you've already lost.

I wouldn't be too harsh on "ridiculous ranting cartoons" if I were you. Self-preservation is a virtue, you know.

Going on the safe assumption that all the "Dems are doomed" Anons are one guy, your well-developed series of complex political insights are remarkable:

Dems are defeatable; no way will people vote for Dems; Dems can't match the impressive executive experience of a Huckabee, Giuliani, Romney, or Thompson; there's no matchup that favors the Dems in '08; I like seeing those liberals' heads explode; Obama has career-dooming skeletons only I know about; Dems are invested in Middle East failure; your liberal head will ass-plode; Dems think the Presidency is a cartoon fight but the mature GOP understands; the election is over and the GOP has won.

But I think your best quote is this one:
Only the democratic party could f-up this election cycle. This was arguably the most 'winnable' election in history for the dems, and they already blew it.

Wow, "the most winnable election in history" for the Dems. You're gonna stick with that assessment, O wise seer?

How tragic that the Dems have blown it... they were finally going to win their first election in history, too.
