Incorrect uses of the word "despite"

CNN: "Stocks fall despite rescue"

Mark Steyn notes: "Britain has the highest underage pregnancy rate in western Europe, despite channelling substantial resources into sex education for children as young as five."

    Also: "Stocks tumbled Tuesday on fears that the government's efforts to slow the recession won't be sufficient..."

    CNN instantaneously assumes the market drop is due to the perception this trillion-dollar abortion is too small.

    *sigh* buy gold. buy silver.

    "Prison population rises despite falling crime rate."
